"For the first time, Kiwis can continue to explore our wonderful backyard, while making a difference." - Zoe, Bushwoman
Aotearoa, New Zealand is now 7th best country to visit in the world and 3rd for natural environments. Tourism contributes the most to the economy. More than ever, we need to influence those visitors on conservation and our natural habitats. Our Bushmen and women inspire these people to care for and enjoy our land and others they visit while going bush.

By offering contracted work to people throughout New Zealand, we are giving back to local communities. We partner with leading charities and global initiatives on ecosystem contribution. We provide data and feedback to DOC and NZ scientists. We have found a way to contribute to tourism and conservation on a mass scale. By bringing everyone together, we can educate the world.
"When those visitors move on, they have directly contributed to preserving the environment and leaving with a personal connection to it. What's better than that?" - Brad, Head Bushman
"I have travelled the length of New Zealand nine times in my van now. I saw a long time ago how lucky we are. But in 2016, while hiking the tracks of North Canterbury, I saw plenty of fellow Kiwis doing the same, but none of our visitors. I saw an opportunity to unite passionate hikers and educate the vast numbers we host. Bushman Tours was developed on the importance of looking after our amazing planet by uniting the right people".
"Tourists are staying 19 nights in New Zealand while spending on average $4,100 during their trip. 73% of those did some form of walking or hiking in 2017." - Tourism New Zealand
6.57 million passengers went through Christchurch airport in 2017 with a predicted
16% increase by the end of 2018. The majority of these being Chinese, English and German.
The accessibility to local flora, fauna, wildlife and scenery is the #1 deciding factor for tourists to come to New Zealand with
Germans being the most interested in hiking activities.
Over the next ten years, DOC and the Government are investing large budgets into the promotion and education of our Great Walks and tourism, thus contributing to the funding of important environmental projects.
What Bushman Tours does
By concentrating on the facilitation, the marketing, the communications and partnership with organisations around the country, you can be most effective while you're out with our visitors. Similar to the concept of Airbnb, we bring you the visitors while you inspire and show them our land. We then reward you for it through commission and a points system that brings you more opportunities and income.
How it works for you
Once selected, you will work with our Regional Bushman Managers on building a profile. They will walk you through an induction and everything you need to know in time for your first trip. By selecting your preferred tracks, introducing us to new ones and setting your schedule, you are in complete control of your contribution.
Make sure to head over to our FAQs and articles website, The Hut. Here we combat all our most frequent questions and requests from both our Adventurers, and our Bushmen & Women. Join our mailing list and keep track of exciting news and opportunities with us. If you have questions not answered, jump on our live chat below.
